In a bid to eradicate illiteracy in the State, the Kwara State Government has launched a "literacy by radio" programme aimed at promoting literacy and essential skills among residents of the State. The programme, which will commence on Monday, 21st April, 2025 is designed to reach a wide audience, covering both the rural and urban areas to bridge the literacy gap in the State. The Executive Director, Agency for Mass Education, Mallam Saka Yusuf who stated this in his office today, added that the programme would be aired on Radio Kwara Midland FM 99.1 on Mondays and Thursdays of each week by 5:20 pm and will last for six weeks, covering reading, numeracy and civic education.  According to him, "we are committed to empowering the youths and adults with the necessary skills to be able to contribute meaningfully to societal growth and development". The Kwara State Government has assured citizens of effective road safety measures, aimed at ensuring the wellness and safety of citizens through the effective implementation of road safety laws. Following the open defeacation rules set by Government and Development Partners towards the attainment of Local Government wide open defecation-free status aimed at enhancing public health and sanitation, Kwara State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA), in collaboration with UNICEF and the State Task Group on Sanitation, has officially declared Oke Ero Local Government Area Open Defecation Free (ODF).  Certificates were thereafter presented to the remaining 9 communities that fulfilled all necessary criteria, thereby marking a landmark achievement in the state’s sanitation journey. Following the partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Kwara State Government has commenced a 4-day intensive training of health workers, to enhance their productivity.
