Taskforce Cracks Down on Illegal Billboards, Begins Full-Scale Removal

Following the Government's revocation of the 2024 billboard permits and statutory 7-day ultimatum for owners to voluntarily remove the billboards, the Kwara State Taskforce Committee on Illegal Billboards and Signages has fully commenced enforcement of the removal of unauthorized billboards and signages across major locations in the Ilorin metropolis.    In line with the current administration's Urban Renewal Programme, which aims to maintain a clean, orderly, and visually appealing environment across the state,  the committee swung into action today,  removing all illegal structures at key areas including Unity Road, Post Office, Maraba, Fate Roundabout, Tanke Junction, Flower Garden, Oja Oba, Surulere, Airport Road and Offa Garage respectively.   In her remarks, the Chairman, Taskforce Committee and state Commissioner for Communications, Hon. KWSG WARNS RESIDENTS AGAINST ERECTION OF STRUCTURES ON WATER PIPELINES

The Kwara State Government has warned residents on the dangers of erecting structures on the water pipelines across the state. The Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade, gave this warning today during an inspection of the major pipeline at Flower Garden, which has just been repaired. The Commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Christiana Omolola Asonibare, stated that “erection of structures like residential buildings, mosques, churches and shops on the water pipelines by the people is inimical for adequate water supply across the state.” While commending the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) for his constant support, the Commissioner called on all residents to complement government’s efforts by considering water pipelines before constructing any structure in order to avoid damaging water pipes and obstructing water supply to benefitting communities. State-wide Environmental Sanitation Holds on Sat. 29th

The Kwara State Government wishes to announce to the public that the State-wide monthly environmental sanitation exercise for the month of March, will come up on Saturday 29th March, 2025 between the hours of Seven O'clock and Ten O'clock (7:00 am to 10:00 am) in the morning. In a significant move to tackle youths unemployment and boost skills acquisition, the Kwara State Government has announced a partnership with the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM) to equip young people with practical skills in agricultural mechanization, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The Kwara State Government has charged all private school owners operating crèches or accommodating pupils between the ages of 0-6 to comply with crèche registration procedures in order to enhance childcare standards, reiterating the need to fulfill crèche registration requirements set by the Ministry of Social Development.
