KWSG Reaffirms Commitment to Boosting Rice Production

In a bold move to strengthen food security and promote local production, the Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to increasing rice production by partnering with the Rice Millers Association of Nigeria (RIMAN) and the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN). This initiative aims to produce high-quality, affordable rice under the brand name "Kwara Rice." IMPACT PROJECT: KWSG AWARDS OVER ₦5b CONTRACTS FOR 70 PHCs FACILITIES UPGRADE

The Kwara State Government has awarded contracts worth over five billion naira for facilities upgrade across 70 Primary Health Care facilities in the three senatorial districts in the state, promoting them to Level 2 PHCs.  The Executive Secretary, Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWHCDA), Professor Nusirat Elelu, stated this recently during the contracts signing event held at the Agency, revealing that the intervention will include infrastructural upgrade, solarisation, provision of staff quarters, potable water supply and supply of ultra-modern hospital equipment across all benefitting Primary Health Care facilities. KWSG INSPECTS CONSTRUCTION SITE OF PROTOTYPE PRIMARY SCHOOL AT ADETA

The Kwara State Government has inspected the construction site of Kwara State prototype primary school at Adeta in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state, restating its pledge to reposition the education sector in the state. The school, which is a three storey building consisting of modern day facilities and convenience such as cooling system, classrooms, water and electricity reticulation, alternative power supply including generating sets and solar, digital boards, e-library and state of art playing ground among others for the pupils. SAPZ Project Envisioned for Rural Industrialisation - KWSG

The Kwara State Government has affirmed that the Kwara Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Project is envisioned for industrialising agrarian areas of the state, for the benefits of all. IVTEC-KWSG Empowers Youths Under the 2024/2025 Employment Generation Scheme

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with International Vocational Technical and Entrepreneurship College, (IVTEC), Ajase Ipo, has  commenced batch 8 of the year 2024/2025 admission of Youths Empowerment and Employment Generation Scheme.  The Rector of the College, Engr. (Dr.) Yaru Salihu stated this in Ajase Ipo today in a press statement issued from his office. According to the Rector, the programme which is being sponsored by the Kwara State Government is aimed at promoting a viable and skills acquisition training, to increase the effectiveness of government efforts at combating poverty and youth unemployment. The Kwara State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is pleased to announce the expansion of the Thursday Market to include a variety of fresh, organic vegetables, in addition to the already available fish varieties. Residents can now purchase Ewedu (Jute leaves), Soko (Lagos Spinach), Tete (African Spinach), and more, all cultivated at the Ministry of Agriculture using organic methods and available at affordable prices. In addition to vegetables, the Thursday Market now offers essential food staples such as yam, beans, maize, and sorghum—further broadening access to nutritious and locally sourced produce. KWSG SIGNS MOU WITH NIBT

KW-PPA Trains Top Civil Servants on Procurement Processes, Record Keeping

The Kwara State Public Procurement Agency ( KW-PPA) has organized a one-day training for dozens of top civil servants across all government establishments in the State on public procurement processes and effective records keeping as part of efforts to improve efficiency in the service.  The training specifically featured directors, controllers of finance and accounts (CFAs); planning officers; and procurement officers across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).  Speaking at the programme, the General Manager of the Agency, QS Raheem Abdulbaki, who trained the participants at the session, said they organized the programme for such categories of civil servants to guide them on some of the procedures needed while engaging in procurement activities in their respective offices. The Kwara State Government has Charged residents to take advantage of the free Tuberculosis screening across health facilities in the state to ascertain their status and ensure healthy living. CHAIRMAN FRC COMMENDS GOVERNOR ABDULRAZAQ FOR LEGACY PROJECTS

The Chairman of the Kwara State Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), Barr. Abubakar Othman has  commended the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his outstanding legacy projects and tremendous infrastructural development in the State. Barr. Othman stated this during his visit to the International Conference Centre, Innovation Hub and Kwara Hotel. He  commended the level of work at the International Conference Centre and thanked the Governor for his foresight. The Project Manager, QS David Olatunji disclosed that the project had reached an appreciable  level after the Government employed the services of a new contractor, the earlier one was sacked due to poor performance. No kobo spent yet on proposed Malete ranch: Kwara Govt

The Kwara State Government did not spend a kobo on any ranch project between 2022 and 2023, as was erroneously claimed by Sahara Reporters. The only related expenditure in the said years was N29,000,000 spent in 2022 for essential services (topographic survey, environmental impacts assessment, and drone flights across the Malete site) at the Malete new site for the Kwara Special Agro Industrial Processing Zone project. This expenditure is dated 28 February, 2022. The closest volume of government's expenditure in that category was the payment on 9 October, 2023 of N779,506,155.08 counterpart funds for the Special Agroprocessing Zone (SAPZ). SAPZ is an ongoing five-year project funded by the African Development Bank and Islamic Development Bank. At the moment under SAPZ, there are four Agricultural Transformation Centres (ATCs) in Baruten (Okuta), Kaiama (Kaiama), Ifelodun (Olodan), and Asa (Afon).
