Kwara to Hold Modified Sanitation, Sat. 28 Dec

The Kwara State modified environmental sanitation exercise will hold on Saturday, 28th December, 2024 between seven o'clock and ten o'clock (7: 00am to 10:am) in the morning.  The state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge stated this in Ilorin today, while addressing the press, in her office.  The Commissioner who prayed that the festive period will bring peace and happiness to all, enjoined residents to sustain a clean environment and abide by relevant laws by ensuring sanitation of their homes and business environments, to enhance healthy living. During the exercise, there will be a house to house visit by Environmental Health Officers (wole-wole), led by Environmental Taskforce, to ensure compliance with relevant sanitary laws adding that vehicular movement will however be allowed, due to the ongoing festivities. KWASU Gets NUC Approval for Another 10 New Programs Under Governor AbdulRazaq’s Administration

The National Universities Commission, NUC, has approved 10 new programs to be run at Kwara State University from the 2024/2025 session.   The approval, which is contained in a letter to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, and signed by the commissions acting director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Ag. Executive Secretary said that the approval was based on the results of assessments from the resource verification visit carried out by panels of experts to the proposed academic programs. ACReSAL: Gov AbdulRazaq flags off distribution of 3000 energy saving stoves,193 motorcycles for Kwarans

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has launched the distribution of 3000 energy-saving cooking stoves for women and another 193 motorcycles for agricultural extension agents across the state under the ACReSAL project intervention. ACReSAL, an acronym for Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape, is being implemented in Kwara under ministries of Environment, Water Resources, and Agriculture and Rural Development. The items are meant to be distributed across the 16 local government areas of the state, according to the State Coordinating Office for ACReSAL. The Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA) has deployed its operatives for special duty to ensure effective traffic management during the 2024 Yuletide season. According to the Ag. CEO, Engr. Bamidele Michael,the deployed operatives include Officers and Men who will control traffic at different choke points within the metropolis, Mobile Patrol personnel to ensure Traffic law compliance and effective gridlock management, and also the Rescue Team members who will be on standby for prompt emergency responses.  Bamidele noted that the presence of KWARTMA will also ensure hitch-free traffic in Offa and Bode Saadu as an extension of services to Kwara Central and Kwara North senatorial districts. UNODC, NDLEA applaud Kwara govt's efforts in curbing drug abuse, trafficking

• As govt completes 2-day training on prevention, treatment The Kwara State Government on Thursday concluded a 2-day training on drug abuse prevention, treatment and care amid applause by international and national bodies for its efforts in arresting the trend of the menace, especially among young people. The capacity building training, which was put together by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control, drew participation from 110 public secondary school teachers across the 16 LGAs of the state.
