Kwara Govt Sensitises Residents, Stakeholders ahead Conduct of GDP Survey

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the weekend said the administration’s move to compute and compile the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the first time since Kwara’s creation in 1967 is to have an accurate database for proper planning and socioeconomic growth. The GDP survey will cover key sectors of the economy such as agriculture, manufacturing, construction, and a value-chain of goods and services, he added. The Governor was speaking in Ilorin at a one-day sensitization campaign on the conduct of Kwara State Gross Domestic Product (KW-GDP) Exercise 2024.  The sensitization programme was organised by the State Bureau of Statistics in collaboration with the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) ahead of July 13 when the data gathering exercise will commence in the state. “Our administration is committed to conducting a comprehensive survey to arrive at the GDP of Kwara State beginning from July 13, 2024,” the Governor said through the Commissioner for Yo

The exercise, which took place at the Olushola Saraki Abattoir, Akerebiata, in Ilorin was well attended by members of the Kwara State Butchers Union, elders of the union including Seriki Fawa, Alhaji Suleiman Seriki, Iyaloja of the Market, and other stakeholders. Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved Monday, July 8, 2024, as a public holiday in the state in commemoration of the new Hijrah Year (Muharram) 1446.  Muharram is the first Muslim’s first lunar month. Kwara Holds Stakeholders’ Meeting Saturday Ahead First-Ever GDP Exercise

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the conduct of an exercise leading to the computation and compilation of its own Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the first time since it was created in 1967.  The exercise will be conducted along with the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), according to a statement by the state bureau of statistics.  “The bureau of statistics has received an approval of His Excellency for the exercise which is the first of its kind in the history of the state,” the bureau stated.  “The bureau consequently invites stakeholders to attend a sensitisation programme on the computation and compilation of the GDP. Kwara State Government has commenced reconstruction works on the long abandoned Patigi Regatta Motel in Patigi town, opening a new frontier in the state’s aggressive tourism drive. The reconstruction work will span eight months and will include shopping areas and expansive parking space, according to the Honourable Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology (BIT) Damilola Yusuf. The Motel features standard rooms, VIP suites, conference hall, restaurants, and courtyards, among others. "We have already handed over the site to the contractor," she added. The Kwara State Government has announced the commencement of the expansion of Adewole Cottage Hospital, Ilorin, as part of efforts to strengthen the primary health care facilities in the state.
