Towoju calls for girl-child protection

The Kwara state Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Olabode George Towoju, has called on parents to protect the girl-child and create a favourable atmosphere for them to thrive.  He made the call at the book reading and conversation session of the book, African Power Girls written by Adebola Williams, in a programme organised by the Office of the First Lady of Kwara State, Amb. Dr. (Mrs.) Olufolake AbdulRazaq and Founder of Ajike People Support Centre, in commemoration of the 2022 International Women's Day celebration. Towoju, while delivering his speech, stated that the girl-child in Nigeria is exposed to diverse abuses and harmful traditional practices. He appealed to parents to nurture and empower the girl-child with their love, resources and quality education to help them achieve lofty goals and reach a high altitude in life.  The First Lady of Kwara State and Founder, Ajike people's support center, Ambassador (Dr) Olufolake AbdulRazaq has stressed the need to inspire and empower the girl child. She stated this at the book reading and conversation session of the book, African Power Girls authored by Mr. Adebola Williams on Thursday 24th March 2022 held at the Banquet Hall, Ilorin. In her words, "When effectively supported during the adolescent years, you will agree with me that girls have the potential to change the world, both as the empowered girls of today and as tomorrow's workers, mothers, entrepreneurs, mentors, household heads as well as political leaders. Amb. Abdulrazaq added that an investment in realizing the power of adolescent girls upholds their rights today and promises a more equitable and prosperous future.
