The Kwara State Government has again charged farmers in the state to embrace climate-smart agricultural technologies, in order to obtain good yields from their farming activities. The Project Coordinator, Kwara Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ ) Project, Engr. Dr. Busari Toyin Isiaka, gave this charge today, during a workshop organised for Women's Agricultural Cooperatives and Women's Small Medium Enterprises on climate-smart agricultural technologies, which took place at Igbaja, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. Busari attributed most of the losses suffered by farmers these days to noncompliance with agricultural technologies, that are climate-smart, therefore disclosed that, government is advocating campaign for compliance among Kwara farmers, to avert such losses in future. In a bid to foster enhanced collaborations at supporting young entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth, the Kwara State Ministry of Youths Development, led by the  Commissioner, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu has paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Ilorin. The Commissioner emphasized that the purpose of the visit was to focus on empowering young entrepreneurs by easing business registration, providing mentorship, and ensuring youths-led businesses comply with the required regulations and policies. The Kwara State Government has officially commenced compensation for the acquisition of 2,100 hectares of land intended for the extension of the Industrial Park, a project initiated in 2023.   The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS), ESV Abdulkareem Babatunde Sulyman, who flagged off the exercise at the agency's premises in Ilorin, explained that the acquired land, located off the old Ogbomoso road, spans over 15 communities in the Asa Local Government Area of the state. Sulyman noted that the 2,100 hectares were addition to the 650 hectares previously acquired for the same purpose, on which development had already commenced. The Kwara State Government, through the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, in collaboration with Development Partners, has commenced the second round of routine immunization exercise of 238,000 children across the state, saying that this is to further strengthen and scale up health services, particularly to hard to reach, underserved and zero dose children.  The exercise comprises the second round of the Big Catch-up vaccination campaigns planned for   Ifelodun, Baruten and Ilorin East Local Government Areas (LGAs), which started yesterday, while the Local Immunization Plus Days is planned for implementation in the remaining 13 LGAs, which is slated for Tuesday 11th - Sunday 16th February, 2025. Kwara State Government has affirmed that the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones Project is development-driven, as it is designed to expand prosperity advantage for farmers and capable of reducing farmers - herdsmen crisis in the state. The Kwara State Hospital Management Board (KW-HMB) has again reiterated its commitment to improved healthcare for the people of Kwara State. The Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik stated this at the Palace of the Daudu of Afon, Alhaji Kolapo Anafi Balogun during a courtesy visit. The Kwara State Government has received an accreditation team for the College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS) in Ilorin. The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. (Mrs) Mary Arinde made this known today in her office while meeting with  the accreditation team from the National Board for Technical Education. Dr Arinde said the State Government was already prepared to receive the team and ready to improve on any areas identified by the team. The Kwara State Government has called on the governing councils of tertiary institutions in the State to be proactive and initiate more impactful innovations in their various institutions. The Kwara State Government has officially flagged off the construction of a legacy Kwara State Court House in Ilorin, the State Capital. The Court House will be a six storey building equiped with eight court rooms, offices, conference hall and library among other modern facilities to ease the operation of the judiciary in Kwara State. While handing over the project to the Consultant today at the site along Ahmadu Bello Way, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr Segun Ogunsola said the Court House Complex is in line with the vision of the State Government to enhance judicial services.
