OBA ASSUMES DUTY AS THE 6TH CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OFKWARA STATE ROAD TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY(KWARTMA)

Suleiman Abdullahi Oba, a seasoned traffic professional with over two decades of experience, today Tuesday 22nd April, 2025 takes over the helm of affairs as the Chief Executive Officer of the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARATMA).

Born about five decades ago, Oba hails from Akalambi quarters, Ile nla, Gambari, in Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State. He attended Government Secondary School (GSS) Ilorin and later obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mathematics and Statistics from Kwara State Polytechnic. 
Oba furthered his education with a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Adekunle Ajasin University and another Master's degree in Business and Entrepreneurship from Kwara State University, Malete.
Oba's career spans multiple sectors, including banking and education. He began as a banker with the defunct Trade Bank Plc and after leaving the banking industry, he joined Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board  (KWASUBEB) where the taught Mathematics for a while.

He joined KWARTMA as a pioneer staff member and has worked in various capacities and   positions, including:

  Patrol Commander (2010-2011)
    Head of Enlightenment (2011-2012)
    Head of Motor Vehicle Administration (2012-2013)
    Ag. Head of Operations (2013-2016)
    Ag. Director of Training and Enlightenment (2016-2022)
    Ag. Director of Operations and Off-Street Parking (2022-2025)
    Director of Training and Enlightenment (2023-2025).

In the welcome address at a brief ceremony to decorate the new CEO on his appointment  the Honourable Commissioner for Transport Alhaji Lafia Korasabi congratulated the Chief Executive Officer for the appointment, noting that the event of decoration marks a new chapter for KWARTMA, he affirmed that the State government is confidence in his capacity to lead. He charged the CEO to work in synergy with the Ministry to advance transportation in Kwara State. 
While delivering his acceptance speech ,the CEO appreciated the Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency,Mallam Abdurahman Abdulrasaq, CON for this positive step, stating that the Government has set a precedent by appointing a member of staff of the Authority as the CEO.
He sought for collaboration of all sister agencies and other stakeholders in transportation to promote safety of lives and property. He congratulated the staff of KWARTMA for this unprecedented milestone.
 
Present at the event were the Honorable Commissioner Transport, Honorable Commissioner for water resources, the Senior Special Assistant on Transport, Permanent Secretary for Works and Directors in the Ministry of Transport, transport stakeholders including the Chairmen NURTW, RTEAN, AIT, TOAN, MOUN and others.

Dignitaries who gave good will messages at the event include the Honourable Commissioner for  water resources Hon. Yunus Lade, SSA transport Hon. Orire, State Chairmen of transport Unions, ,Alhaji Abdulrazaq Ariwoola,(NURTW) Alhaji Olayinka Onikijipa( RTEAN), Allahji Abdulganiy Omolola,(AIT), Alhaji Saliu Gidao (TOAN).

Kwara TESCOM Opens Application Portal for Teaching Jobs

•Urges applicants to adhere to rules spelt out in initial statement •Portal opens Wednesday, 5th February - Friday, 14th February, 2025 The Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has released the application link for its teaching job openings. Kwara Govt Okays Conditional Re-opening of Forest for Sawmilers

The Kwara State Government has officially announced the re-opening of forests in the State for sawmilling and forestry related activities with conditions aimed at preserving the forests as crucial natural resources for generations to come.  The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, as part of the government's position while interacting with officials and key-stakeholders of saw millers, chainsaw operators and plank sellers in the State today. It would be recalled that the forests were declared closed in January 2025 to enhance natural regeneration of the forests and allow the Ministry gainful opportunity to engage relevant stakeholders towards adopting best practices while pursuing economic activities within the forests' terrain.
