Monthly Environmental Sanitation to Hold April 26.
...to mobilize communities for thorough drainage clean ups.
Members of the public are hereby informed that *Kwara Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise* for the month of April has been scheduled to hold on Saturday, 26th April, 2025 between the hours of seven o'clock and ten o'clock (7:00am to 10:00am) in the morning.
Residents within the state capital and Local Government Areas are therefore enjoined to fully participate in the exercise, by clearing both their residential and business environments, to ensure a clean and healthy state.
This was contained in a press statement, issued today from the office of the State Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge.
It further stated that this month's exercise will also feature community based clean up of drainages and waterways, as part of the state's preparedness for the raining season, to ensure free passage of water to avert flooding.
The statement therefore called for maximum cooperation of all community oriented associations, residents and house owners to be physically involved in the clean up exercises, to ensure that gutters around their residence and business premises are cleared of debris, to allow for a free flow of water.
The press statment signed by the Press Secretary of the ministry Shakirat Muritala also reminded the public that vehicular and human movement will not be allowed during the exercise, except for those with emergencies situations or on essential duties.
"We shall be providing additional vehicles to convey debris and wastes, to government approved dump sites. Therefore feel free to contact us to clear such wastes from communities, during and after the sanitation exercise.''
