KWSG ASSURES CITIZENS OF EFFECTIVE ROAD SAFETY MEASURES

The Kwara State Government has assured citizens of effective road safety measures, aimed at ensuring the wellness and safety of citizens through the effective implementation of road safety laws.

The State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Lafia Aliyu Korasabi, gave the assurance, while addressing Kwarans at Harmony FM, Idofian, yesterday on a programme titled "APC Gbode".

Hon. Lafia Aliyu Korasabi reiterated the State Government's unalloyed commitment to ensuring orderliness, adherence to rules and regulations of transportation for proper maintenance of roads and for the economic posterity envisioned through the "Smart City" project.

Speaking on the security of commuters, Lafia revealed that the Ministry had engaged relevant stakeholders and the leadership of all the transport unions in Kwara State to a consultative meeting recently, promising that issues bothering on the state colour (painting), dues and remittance, routing, car parks,  reflective jackets and other related issues will be addressed, accordingly.

Hon. Lafia who equally explained that the Ministry of Transportation was very much aware of the  disaffections between some members of the public and some of the Ministry's enforcement agencies while discharging their duties, urged Kwarans to embrace peace, adding that adequate measures will be taken on the matter and sanity, restored.

The Transportation Commissioner emphasized the socio-economic impacts of the ongoing State transportation reform policy, which he said was long over due and rallied for holistic understanding and cooperation of citizens, adding that Governor  AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will not leave any stone unturned to integrate the economic potentials of roads in the State.

Kwara TESCOM Opens Application Portal for Teaching Jobs

Kwara Govt Okays Conditional Re-opening of Forest for Sawmilers

The Kwara State Government has officially announced the re-opening of forests in the State for sawmilling and forestry related activities with conditions aimed at preserving the forests as crucial natural resources for generations to come.  The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, as part of the government's position while interacting with officials and key-stakeholders of saw millers, chainsaw operators and plank sellers in the State today. It would be recalled that the forests were declared closed in January 2025 to enhance natural regeneration of the forests and allow the Ministry gainful opportunity to engage relevant stakeholders towards adopting best practices while pursuing economic activities within the forests' terrain.
