KWARA GOVT TO BOOST TRANSPORT, SECURITY THROUGH DATA COLLATION

The Kwara State Government in its concerted efforts to ensure that adequate security measures are put in place for an effective transport sector, has announced plans to compile comprehensive data of transport associations in the State to enhance the planning and coordination of transportation activities aimed at strengthening the security and safety of commuters in the State.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Lafia Aliyu Korasabi, disclosed this, while addressing Kwarans, on a Radio Kwara Midland FM, Batonu interactive programme, "Yenkuyengooru",  yesterday.

Hon. Lafia Aliyu Korasabi explained that the creation of the Ministry of Transportation by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq was a strategic move aimed at ensuring effective planning and management of all the transport sectors—water, rail, and road, as well as human activities on the roads as it affects the social and economic lives of Kwarans.

According to him, the initiative was geared towards boosting economic activities, promoting safety, and creating a viable and conducive environment that supports businesses while creating job opportunities across the State.

Speaking on traffic management on the outskirt of the metropolis, Lafia further revealed that traffic officers from the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA) have been deployed to the Okolowo Highway to maintain orderliness, while curbing incidences that could lead to loss of lives in the areas. 

He, however, promised that similar deployments will be extended to other parts of the State to ensure more efficient and widespread traffic management to enhance the safety of the citizens in the State.

Kwara TESCOM Opens Application Portal for Teaching Jobs

Kwara Govt Okays Conditional Re-opening of Forest for Sawmilers

The Kwara State Government has officially announced the re-opening of forests in the State for sawmilling and forestry related activities with conditions aimed at preserving the forests as crucial natural resources for generations to come.  The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, as part of the government's position while interacting with officials and key-stakeholders of saw millers, chainsaw operators and plank sellers in the State today. It would be recalled that the forests were declared closed in January 2025 to enhance natural regeneration of the forests and allow the Ministry gainful opportunity to engage relevant stakeholders towards adopting best practices while pursuing economic activities within the forests' terrain.
