KW-SAPZ, KW-ADP to Collaborate on Extension

Indications are emerging for a collaboration to ensue between Kwara Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Project and Kwara Agricultural Project on extension service for effective implementation of the former.

The State Project Coordinator, Kwara Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Project, Engr.Dr. Busari Toyin Isiaka, revealed this today while receiving representatives of Kwara Agricultural Development Project, in his office.

Represented by the Project Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Mr. Hamid Kareem, the Coordinator stated further that, Kwara SAPZ will be reaching out to farmers majorly across the five local government areas viz: Moro, Kaiama, Baruteen, Ifelodun and Asa) of the project locations and that the service of Kwara ADP's Extension Agents in the area of information dissemination, will be required.

Noting that Kwara SAPZ is  livestocks biased and a consideration for crop intervention, Busari explained that, synergy between the duo from the same government, will be easy for Kwara SAPZ to communicate farmers in rural areas across the mentioned LGAs.

He added that information sharing is key to effective project implementation, noting that Kwara ADP is in the best position to work with.

"The Kwara Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Project is not unaware of the vital role the Kwara Agricultural Development Project can play, to ensure that effective communications takes place between Kwara SAPZ and the farmers. Since that advantage is identified at the early stage of project implementation, we can harness the opportunity through a strong collaboration with Kwara ADP. With this arrangement, Kwara Agricultural Development Project's Extension Agents will help in communicating farmers who are of different linguistic backgrounds. This will definitely sort out the problem of language barrier," the Coordinator clarified.

Responding, the Director, Physical Infrastructure, Kwara Agricultural Development Project, Mr. Abdulsallam Sola Jamiu, assured his host that there are competent Extension Agents from Kwara ADP across LGAs of the state.

He further disclosed that Kwara SAPZ will never have problem in terms of information sharing because the Extension Agents in Kwara Agricultural Development Project are domiciled among the people whose languages they can speak fluently.

He then pledged the readiness of the KwADP to accept the collaboration move, for the two agencies drive the state to greater heights, in agricultural production and as well tackle food insecurity together.

Those in attendance during the visit were; the Director, Technical, Kwara Agricultural Development Project, Chief Oloruntoba Ayanda, Director Planning, Mrs. Dorcas Taiwo and Deputy Director, Extension, Mr. Sheu Mutiu.
