Govt Charges Residents to Report TB Cases

The Kwara State Government has charged residents of Asa Local Government Area to be proactive by promptly reporting suspected cases of Tuberculosis (TB) within their communities, to nearest health facilities, as a stitch in time saves nine. 

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, gave this charge during the week, at the official investiture program for the TB Champion of Asa LGA, held at the Aisha Buhari Mother and Child Hospital, Eyenkorin, in Asa Local Government Areas of the state. 

El-Imam emphasized the critical need for Asa LGA to lead in identifying and reporting TB cases, noting that proactive case detection is vital in tackling the public health challenges posed by the disease. 

She highlighted the importance of community involvement and vigilance, stressing that early detection and treatment are key, in eradicating the disease.

Dr El-Imam also appealed to women in the community to ensure their children receive timely immunizations, for protection against preventable diseases such as; tuberculosis, hepatitis and other infectious diseases. 

The Commissioner reiterated government’s commitment to prioritizing the health of citizens, particularly those at the grassroots.

The Chairman, Asa Local Government Area, Alhaji Yahaya Shehu in his remarks commended Kwara State Governor for its unwavering dedication to healthcare development, with particular reference to the recent renovation and equipping of Asa General Hospital, Afon.

He however expressed concern over maternal mortality rate in the area, attributing it to the continued patronage of traditional birth attendants during childbirth. 

He therefore, encouraged residents to utilize the equipped health facilities, to compliment government’s efforts at eradicating deadly diseases and promote quality healthcare delivery.

Hon Shehu thereafter appreciated community leaders in Asa Local Government Area, for their roles as health ambassadors, thereby supporting healthcare initiatives and promoting healthy practices within their communities.

Kwara State Government Promotes Over 2,000 Civil Servants

  The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved the release of the 2023 promotion letters to eligible civil servants in the state. The Permanent Secretary of the State Civil Service Commission, Hajia Kifayat Jimoh, disclosed this today, March 6, 2025, in Ilorin, the state capital. According to the Permanent Secretary, a total of 2,094 out of 2,122 candidates who sat for the promotion examination were successful. She expressed the Commission's appreciation to the Governor for graciously approving the distribution of the promotion letters and urged the promoted civil servants to rededicate themselves to service in order to enhance the government's objective of effective service delivery to the people of the state.
