EDUCATION MINISTRY PARTNERS KWIRS TO ENHANCE INTELLECTUAL CAPACITY OF STUDENTS

In a bid to further enhance the intellectual capacity of students across the state, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe has partnered with the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) and pledged the Ministry’s readiness to provide full support and cooperation in achieving the set objectives.

Dr. Olohungbebe made this commitment on Wednesday when Officials of the KWIRS paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry, describing the visit as timely.

"I am proud to collaborate with KWIRS to enhance the intellectual capacity of our dear students", he stated.

Dr. Olohungbebe acknowledged the strong synergy between the Ministry and KWIRS since the inception of the present administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON), encouraging KWIRS to explore alternative strategies for addressing tax defaulters instead of opting for school closure.

Earlier, the Executive Chairman of KWIRS, Shade Omoniyi, commended Governor AbdulRazaq for appointing a seasoned lecturer and sociologist from a reputable University to oversee the Ministry and lauded the administration for its exceptional contributions to the education sector, noting that the state's education system has successfully transitioned from analog to digital through the introduction of the KwaraLearn programme in public primary schools, an initiative, which has significantly transformed learning activities across the state.

Omoniyi emphasised the importance of schools complying with tax regulations to avoid unnecessary embarrassment, as taxation is a legal obligation, adding that the Agency introduced a quiz competition on taxation for public and private secondary schools, which rewards outstanding students and schools as well as aims to improve students' understanding of taxation and its significance.

"The tax quiz competition in secondary schools is designed to enhance Kwara State students' education. Through such programmes, we aim to bring taxation awareness directly to the people of Kwara", she said.

Kwara State Government Promotes Over 2,000 Civil Servants

  The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved the release of the 2023 promotion letters to eligible civil servants in the state. The Permanent Secretary of the State Civil Service Commission, Hajia Kifayat Jimoh, disclosed this today, March 6, 2025, in Ilorin, the state capital. According to the Permanent Secretary, a total of 2,094 out of 2,122 candidates who sat for the promotion examination were successful. She expressed the Commission's appreciation to the Governor for graciously approving the distribution of the promotion letters and urged the promoted civil servants to rededicate themselves to service in order to enhance the government's objective of effective service delivery to the people of the state.
