 Patigi to get a mini stadium

The Kwara State Government has rated  Patigi Local Government Council high over the choice of projects executed so far for the constituents.

The Commissioner for Local Government Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abdullahi Abubakar Bata disclosed this at the various sites of the projects inspected, yesterday.

During the inspection, the Commissioner observed that the people at Godo - Woro Community were patiently waiting in turn to fetch water from the only functional solar powered borehole in the Community. He stopped by to appreciate them for their patience and promised that another solar motorised borehole will be constructed by the Council, while other damaged boreholes would be repaired immediately for use.

The Commissioner, who spoke to contractors handling projects at the sites, appreciated them for the good work and appealed to the contractors re - modelling the clinic at Gada-Woro Community and the construction of one block of two classrooms with an office at Agboro Community to hasten their work as he was aware that funds for the projects had been provided for them.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ahmed Adamu Rufai, thanked the inspection team for their observations and disclosed that the delay in some of the projects as observed were due to wider consultations with his people, promising that all the projects would be completed as soon as possible.

Speaking on the proposed construction of a mini - stadium, Hon. Rufai disclosed that it had become necessary for the people of Patigi to have a mini stadium after several requests for it. He assured that necessary machinery had been put in place to ensure a befitting mini stadium is put in place for sports.
The Executive Chairman, however, appealed to his people for maximum support for his administration and the State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whose policies and programmes are geared towards the upliftment of citizens of the State.

Among the projects visited are the drilling of solar powered motorized boreholes across the twelve political wards of the Council, procurement and installation of solar street lights at strategic locations, renovation of Kampe game reserve office, grading and compaction of several kilometres of roads in Patigi via Gada-Woro and Gada-Woro via Lile Road, renovation of parts of the Local Government Secretariat, among others.

Kwara Govt Okays Conditional Re-opening of Forest for Sawmilers

The Kwara State Government has officially announced the re-opening of forests in the State for sawmilling and forestry related activities with conditions aimed at preserving the forests as crucial natural resources for generations to come.  The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, as part of the government's position while interacting with officials and key-stakeholders of saw millers, chainsaw operators and plank sellers in the State today. It would be recalled that the forests were declared closed in January 2025 to enhance natural regeneration of the forests and allow the Ministry gainful opportunity to engage relevant stakeholders towards adopting best practices while pursuing economic activities within the forests' terrain.
