COMMISSIONER FOR ENERGY WELCOMES NEW PERMANENT SECRETARY

The Kwara State Ministry of Energy has formally welcomed the newly appointed Permanent Secretary for the Ministry, Mr. Olaitan Afolabi, who resumed office today. The meeting, which was held at the Commissioner’s office, brought together key management staff of the Ministry and marked by a strong message of collaboration, dedication, and renewed commitment to the development of the State’s energy sector.

The Commissioner for Energy, Engr. AbdulAzeez Kola AbdulGaniy, described the Ministry as a professional institution at the heart of infrastructural and social development in the State, emphasizing the need for synergy between the Permanent Secretary, directors, and the entire management team to achieve the Ministry’s mandate. "We are here to implement impactful initiatives for the benefit of our people. This can only be achieved through unity, innovation, and a shared vision," the Commissioner said. 

In his response, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olaitan Afolabi, expressed profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for the opportunity to serve. He reaffirmed his total loyalty to the State and assured the Commissioner and Ministry staff of his unwavering support and commitment to the goals of the Ministry. "I am here to serve with integrity, professionalism, and dedication. Together, we will move the Ministry forward," he stated. He also suggested that regular briefings be organized to help keep everyone accountable and aligned.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Director of Personnel, Finance, and Supply, Mrs. Funmilayo AbdulRazaq, welcomed the Permanent Secretary  and commended his vision and leadership. She described his appointment as a testament to his dedication and capacity to deliver exceptional service to the people of Kwara State.

Other contributors at the meeting included the Acting Director of Electrical Engineering, Engr. Fisayo Dada; Controller of Finance and Accounts, Mrs. Ezekiel Bimpe; Acting Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Olawoye Olaolu; and the Head of Procurement and Stores, Mr. Abiodun Oladimeji, among others.

The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and shared optimism for the future of the Ministry, as all stakeholders pledged to work together for the advancement of energy development in Kwara State.

Kwara TESCOM Opens Application Portal for Teaching Jobs

Kwara Govt Okays Conditional Re-opening of Forest for Sawmilers

The Kwara State Government has officially announced the re-opening of forests in the State for sawmilling and forestry related activities with conditions aimed at preserving the forests as crucial natural resources for generations to come.  The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, as part of the government's position while interacting with officials and key-stakeholders of saw millers, chainsaw operators and plank sellers in the State today. It would be recalled that the forests were declared closed in January 2025 to enhance natural regeneration of the forests and allow the Ministry gainful opportunity to engage relevant stakeholders towards adopting best practices while pursuing economic activities within the forests' terrain.
