State-wide Environmental Sanitation Holds on Sat. 29th


The Kwara State Government wishes to announce to the public that the State-wide monthly environmental sanitation exercise for the month of March, will come up on Saturday 29th March, 2025 between the hours of Seven O'clock and Ten O'clock (7:00 am to 10:00 am) in the morning.

This was contained in a press release issued today from the office of the State Commissioner for Environment Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge.

According to the statement signed by the Press Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Shakirat Muritala,
 ''residents are enjoined to utilize the opportunity to clean up their homes, business premises, drainages and remove any identified sources of nuisance or hazard, to sustain a clean and safe environment in the state."

It stressed further the importance of environmental cleanliness and hygiene in the holy month of Ramadan, especially as we prepare to converge for the Sallah prayers in various locations in the state, adding that cleanliness is next to godliness. 

The statement however urged members of the public to note that the exercise will be relaxed to allow free vehicular movements by people on essential duties and emergency services within the state.

In the light of this, residents were charged to prioritise their wellbeing, by cleaning up their environments to avoid epidemics, as provision has been made for waste collection trucks to evacuate refuse in the metropolis, while environmental health officers (Wole-wole), the taskforce team, and security agents will be on ground, to ensure compliance with sanitation laws and guidelines.
