Public Relations Unit Charged on Proactiveness
Staffers of the newly created Public Relations Unit of the Kwara State Ministry of Communications have been charged to be proactive in the discharge of their duties.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed, gave the charge yesterday while receiving the staff of the unit in his office at the new State Secretariat, Phase II.
Alh. Mohammed said the unit was created to correct negative perceptions about the government by projecting its image to the citizens.
He emphasized the need for the public to know the far-reaching investment of the government on infrastructural projects like roads, hospitals, schools, and other social amenities being worked on by the state government under the present administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
In his remarks, the Director of Information Services, Alhaji Jimoh Salau, urged members of the unit to brace up in order to achieve the set goals as pioneer staff of the unit.
Also speaking, the Head of the unit, Mallam Muhammad Baba, enumerated the steps the members of the unit have taken to set a formidable foundation for the smooth take off of the unit.
Such steps, according to him, includes renaming of the unit from radio to public relations unit, securing office accommodation, organizing public lectures for members of the unit, and developing a workable blueprint for the unit, adding that the administrative structure of the unit is also being designed.
Mallam Baba, however, thanked the management of the Ministry for the opportunity given to them and promised not to relent in propagating the good image of the state government.
In attendance at the meeting were the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS) of the Ministry, Hajia Maimunat Buhari, and Director Culture, Mrs. Sherifat Aliu, among others.
