KWASU VC COMMENDS GOV. ABDULRAZAQ FOR OLOHUNGBEBE’S APPOINTMENT

The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has been commended for the appointment of Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe as the Honourable Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development.

The Vice-Chancellor, Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Shaqkh Luqman Jimoh, gave the commendation on Thursday when the University’s Management Team paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner, in his office.

Professor Jimoh described the appointment as a recognition of Dr. Olohungbebe's achievements as the Director of the Centre for Community Development of the Institution; the position which he held for almost a decade before he was appointed as the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Community Development in the year 2023.

According to him, "We appreciate His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for appointing one of our staff as a Commissioner. It is on record that you are the first member of staff who is appointed as an Executive member in the State.This is a testimony that your efforts at the Centre for Community Development are well recognised by the Governor."

In his response, the Commissioner expressed his appreciation to the management team for the visit, describing it as "a thing of pride that the leadership of my place of work paid me a courtesy visit."

"I got to this position because people became aware of my community development efforts as a staff member of KWASU. The Institution gave me the platform to showcase my skills. It is an opportunity I do not take for granted", he added.

Dr. Olohungbebe therefore promised that he would render his teaching service for the Institution for free while on the State’s assignment. 

A congratulatory letter was presented to the Commissioner by the Vice-Chancellor and his entourage.

Other members of the delegation were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Professor Olubukola Dada; Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Kikelomo Wasilat Salle; Bursar, Mallam Abubakar Sanni; and the University Librarian, Professor Salman Abiodun Salman.
