SAPZ Project Envisioned for Rural Industrialisation - KWSG

The Kwara State Government has affirmed that the Kwara Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Project is envisioned for industrialising agrarian areas of the state, for the benefits of all.


The Project Coordinator in the State, Engr. Dr. Busari Toyin Isiaka, made this affirmation today  during a sensitisation programme organised for community stakeholders in Afon,  Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State.



Dr. Busari explained that agro-industrialisation will attract investors and this will spike transformation of the agrarian locations, and enssure the economic boom of the communities.


Speaking through the Project Infrastructure Engineer, Engr. Dr. Ezekiel Olanrewaju Ariyo, Busari disclosed that the project focuses places that have comparative advantage in some products, saying that such areas of high agricultural production are suitable in the context of agro-industrial processing zones project.



He added that the SAPZ Project, coupled with many agricultural interventions by the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will go a long way to enable farmers fulfill their aspirations.



The Coordinator further revealed that, Afon as a seat of a Local Government  will host an Agricultural Transformation Center (ATC), just as Baruteen, Kaiama and Ifelodun, adding that one Agro-Industrial Hub will be sited in Malete, in Moro Local Government Area of the State.



The Chairman, Asa Local Government Area, Alhaji Sheu Yahaya Amosa, disclosed that, Asa Local Government needs special attention because of its topography, suggesting that adequate enlightenment and education be given to farmers in that area, in respect of the programme.



He then affirmed that the people of Asa Local Government are happy about the implementation of the project, noting  that, the people are predominantly farmers, hence their passion for the project.


Highlight of the programme was entertainment of the gathering by Afon Cultural Troupe, which added colour to the ceremony.



Those in attendance were: the Vice-Chairman, Asa Local Government, Alhaja Rasidat Abubakar Aremu, the representative of the Daudu of Afon, Alhaji Gani Saka, and Director of Veterinary, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Abdullateef Olugbon.
Others are; Managing Director, Kwara Agricultural Development Project, Dr. Khadijat Alege, Director, Agric Services, Alhaja Afusat Hussain, Director Fishery, Mrs. Florence Toyin and Chief Executive Officer, Centre for Empowerment and Poverty Eradication, Mr. Abdurahman Ayuba.
