Land Administration: KW-GIS to Collaborate with NBA

In a bid to ensure a litigation-free environment across the State, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS), ESV. Abdulkareem Babatunde Sulyman has assured the State Chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) of a purpose-driven collaboration towards achieving a robust synergy for the benefit of the State.

The Chairman disclosed this during the week when the NBA paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Ilorin. According to him, "we are partners in progress, and working towards the same goals and objectives. We are fully aware of your clean Kwara exercise, and we are ready to collaborate with you in this regard for the progress of all and sundry", he stated

Sulyman, who expressed the support of KWGIS to the Association, especially with the Agency's full automation, reiterated the importance of professional input in land transactions to ensure that land registration processes are transparent, reliable, and legally sound.

He urged the NBA to, as a matter of urgency, forward a comprehensive memo to his Agency to explain new steps towards a standardized land acquisition method for onward transmission to the Governor for approval. 

The KWGIS Boss reiterated the commitment of the Agency under his stewardship as Chairman and the leadership of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at making sure that land registration measures were strongly implemented in the State.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Kwara Chapter of the NBA, Sulyman Mohammad Esq, commended Governor AbdulRazaq for his efforts at digitalizing land administration in the State, describing the step as significant towards improving the efficiency of land administration.  

Sulyman appreciated the KWGIS Chairman for the warm reception accorded members of the NBA, despite the short notice, and  commended him for positively implementing the legal aspects of the Agency's job.   

"The NBA deems it fit to pay you a courtesy visit because of the major role your office is playing, which affects our business as legal practitioners as the NBA has taken drastic steps towards standardizing the method of land acquisition in the State,  we solicit your full cooperation in revising the existing legal framework", the NBA Chairman disclosed.

Dignitaries present at the courtesy visit included the Legal Adviser, KWGIS, Barr. Mrs. Omolara Olubiyi; the Deputy Director, Lands Services, Esv. Olatayo Adekeye; Director, Physical Planning, Tpl. Abdulhakeem Abdulsalam; Director, Urban and Regional Planning, Tpl. Awolola Adewole and other management staff of KWGIS.
