Kwara SAPZ Project is Development-Driven - KWSG


Kwara State Government has affirmed that the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones Project is development-driven, as it is designed to expand prosperity advantage for farmers and capable of reducing farmers - herdsmen crisis in the state.




The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Honourable Oloruntoyosi Thomas,  made this affirmation today, while addressing community stakeholders, during a sensitisation programme held in Igbaja, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.



Honourable Thomas, who noted that the SAPZ initiative is another dimension the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will stimulate wealth and enhance food security.


The Commissioner, who further explained that the project will improve productivity along value chain, with concentration on livestock (dairy and meat production) and consideration for intervention, covering maize, rice and soya beans, stated further that this approach to farming will create multiple jobs for Kwarans.



While commending Governor AbdulRazaq for his dedication to agricultural revolution by embarking on different projects, meant to  address hunger, poverty and
improve the economy of the state, expressing  delight over the acceptance of the project, by the people at the grassroots.



Explaining the overview of SAPZ to participants at the event, the State Project Coordinator, Kwara Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones Project, Engr Dr. Busari Toyin Isiaka, disclosed that the Agricultural Transformation Center to be sited at Olodan, Ifelodun Local Government Area along with the ones to be built in Afon, Kaiama and Baruteen, will be serving the Agro-Industrial Hub in Malete, with necessary resources.



Represented by the Project Livestock Specialist, Mr. Abdulfatah Lekan Ambali,  the Coordinator explained that the SAPZ project is private sector-led and government enabled, this, he noted, will elongate the span of the project. 



His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. (Alhaji)  Ahmed Babalola Awuni, the Elese of Igbaja in his remarks, said Governor AbdulRazaq deserves people's accolades for his scorecard in the agricultural sector, adding that, his determination to tackling unemployment and poverty through agricultural creativity will be in the memory of Kwarans forever.



The monarch stated that the SAPZ project  will go a long way, to reduce the farmer-herdsmen crisis, praying that God will continue to strengthen and guide the Governor.



The Royal Father then assured Governor AbdulRazaq led-administration of his people's support for the project, at all times.



The event specially featured the Shining Star Cultural Troupe, who added colours to the ceremony.
