KWACReSAL State Steering, Technical Committees Hold Maiden Meeting For 2025
The Kwara State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (KWACReSAL) Steering and Technical Committees have held their maiden meeting for the year 2025 with a view to keeping members abreast of the progress made on the implementation of programmes, while bracing up for the interventions and smooth execution of the project in all the local government areas of the State.
Addressing members of the Committees, the Chairman, State Steering Committee, who is also the Kwara State Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment, Hajia Nafisat Buge, while welcoming members of the two committees, noted that the meeting, which was the first in the year 2025, was aimed at contributing to effective programme implementation in line with the Project Development Objectives (PDO) for more impacts.
Buge lauded Governor AbdulRazaq's leadership qualities, transparency and adoption of best technological practices in the execution of projects in the State. She, therefore, advised members of the committee as well as the State Project Management Unit (SPMU) to work diligently to complement the Governor and World Bank’s efforts, towards ensuring effective and efficient landscape management in the State.
In his remarks, the State Project Coordinator, Alhaji Shamsideen Olatunbosun Aregbe, updated members of the committees on some of the activities that had been cleared and implemented. While highlighting the importance of the project, the SPC explained that the project was aimed at improving the socio-economic lives of Kwarans.
The Coordinator also gave an update on the fact-finding mission of some of the SPMU’s staff to the Shonga flooding site, which would lead to the activation of "Component D" of the ACReSAL Project's Contingency and Rapid Response with an holistic report at the meeting for submission to the World Bank.
Other updates were the presentation of the 2025 proposed work plan, engagement of consultants on Baseline Mapping, Gender Based Violence/Greviance Redress Mechanism, Delivery of 16 tractors and the proposed visits from the Federal Project Managent Unit Consultants, among others.
The meeting was attended by members of the State Steering and State Technical Committee and the Kwara ACReSAL SPMU Staff.
