IVTEC-KWSG Empowers Youths Under the 2024/2025 Employment Generation Scheme
The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with International Vocational Technical and Entrepreneurship College, (IVTEC), Ajase Ipo, has commenced batch 8 of the year 2024/2025 admission of Youths Empowerment and Employment Generation Scheme.
The Rector of the College, Engr. (Dr.) Yaru Salihu stated this in Ajase Ipo today in a press statement issued from his office.
According to the Rector, the programme which is being sponsored by the Kwara State Government is aimed at promoting a viable and skills acquisition training, to increase the effectiveness of government efforts at combating poverty and youth unemployment.
The programme also intends to create jobs in order to increase entrepreneurship opportunities among the teeming youths in the state.
The statement, which was signed by the Press Secretary of the Institute, Grace Ige, stated that areas of training of the scheme include Trades and Vocations; Automotive,
Building and Electrical Departments.
Others are Heating Department,
Air-conditioning (HVAC),
Hospitality and Tourism
Management, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Welding and Fabrication, as well as
Entrepreneurship Departments.
The statement stated further that the programme entails an intensive three months in-center training, followed by the mandatory three months industrial attachment at the appropriate industry/business outfits.
Upon successful completion of the programme, the State Government will provide qualified beneficiaries with empowerment business start up package, which would enable them to start up their own businesses.
The statement further disclosed that the resumption date for the 2024/2025 session begins on 17th of February 2025, adding that successful beneficiaries will be awarded a Technical and Entrepreneurship Certificate in their field of training.

The Rector also disclosed in the statement that the state government has been providing full tuition fees, scholarships, and monthly stipends of #5,000 each for beneficiaries that have gone through the training since inception.
It is expected that all beneficiaries at the training would have acquired enough skills to make a better living, either as gainfully employed or as entrepreneurs.
