Commissioner Commends YIG, Re-affirmes Commitment to Youths Development
The Kwara State Commissioner for Youths Development Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu has commended the Youths Integrated Group (YIG) for its impactful initiatives and reaffirmed government's support in fostering youths development through skills acquisition and economic empowerment programmes.
The Commissioner made this submission to members of the Youths Integrated Group who paid him a courtesy visit in his office today.
He appreciated YIG for its efforts and assured them of the government's support in fostering youths engagement, skills acquisition, and employment opportunities.
Amb. Ndanusa also noted that the courtesy visit marked a significant step towards strengthening partnerships between the government under the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, and youths-led organizations to drive positive change in Kwara State.
The Convener of the group and Former Aspirant of Ilorin West Local Government Chairperson, Amb. Zakariyahu Mumeenat Jumai explained that the group was created to equip young individuals with vocational and digital skills that would enhance their employability and entrepreneurship potentials, to foster a sense of responsibility and active participation in community-building initiatives.
She noted that the YIG has trained 100 youths in ICT for free, equipping them with essential digital skills for career advancement. Also, 90 youths have been trained in liquid soap and shea butter cream production, providing them with certificates and starter packs to kickstart their businesses and promote self-reliance.
She further emphasized that the group in support of the State Government has currently embarked on the fight against cholera by educating and sensitizing communities on prevention, early detection, and proper response.
