KWSG POISES FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT IN YEAR 2025 - Lafia

The Kwara State Government has envisioned year 2025 to have more economic boost amid other noteworthy successes, as a result of its inclusiveness and citizens' oriented method adopted in its planning and budget preparation.

The Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Aliyu Kora Sabi Lafia stated this today at the 4th quarter Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing, organized by the Ministry of Communications, at the conference room of Ministry of Finance.

"Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has indeed presented a robust budget for 2025, with a total value of #540.3 billion Naira. The budget’s emphasis on capital expenditures and strategic allocation of resources to key sectors is indeed commendable and it is expected to drive economic growth and development in Kwara State”, the Commissioner disclosed.

While adjudging the transformational process the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration has brought into budget preparation and implementation in the state, Hon. Lafia commended the process for the monumental life touching achievements the state has recorded in many areas across its Ministries, Departments and Agencies, (MDAs) in the recent time.

He emphasized the importance of citizens’ engagement which the Ministry has continually conducted across the three (3) Senatorial Districts of the state as pivotal in articulating the yearning of citizens, while ensuring their needs are adequately captured; an approach that is in conformity with the global practice.

Highlighting some of the key achievements of the State Government in line with the Ministry's statutory mandates, the Commissioner said it has continually ensured that a seamless and implementable planning process is put together for the State Government to drive economic potentials and the social well-being of its citizenry.

Hon. Lafia stressed that the State Government has been giving undaunted supervision and regular monitoring of all projects in the state, both completed and ongoing, saying it was to ensure government works and projects are carried out and delivered according to standard specification. 

Still consolidating on some of the remarkable achievements in Infrastructural Development, Education, Health, Energy, Social Investment Programmes and other key areas, the Commissioner lauded Governor AbdulRazaq for his unwavering commitments, especially, for a robust budget presented for the year 2025, which focuses on completing the ongoing infrastructural projects while initiating new ones to the advantage of all thereby placing Kwara on the higher national raider of economy.

Other notable areas of achievement identified include: the conduct of the 4th quarter meeting of the State Committee on Food and Nutrition, validation of Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRiN), Mapping Report for Nutrition Interventions in the State for 2023, end of the year of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Assessment, hosting of Zonal Biannual Review Meeting on implementation of Food System Pathways in Nigeria for the North-Central and South-West, the ongoing Independent Verification Assessment on Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES), all targeted at providing enabling support to the poor and vulnerable groups while ensuring economic boost and sustainability.
