KWSG HANDS OVER CONSTRUCTION OF ULTRA-MODERN lCT PROJECT TO CONTRACTOR IN SHONGA COMMUNITY AT #242 MILLION
The Kwara State Government has officially handed over the Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) project site at Shonga in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State to the Contractor, Skylat-One Nigeria Ltd., Adegboyega Akinwumi.
The project, which was estimated at #242 Million, was approved for construction by the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq following the request of Shonga Community for an ICT centre.
Speaking at the event which took place at Shonga recently, the Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, reiterated the State Government’s commitment to providing social economic infrastructure towards technological advancement in Kwara State.
The Commissioner described the project as a testament to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s determination to drive economic growth and development in the state, adding that the Ultra-Modern ICT project is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy as well as create job opportunities for the people of Shonga and the surrounding communities.
Hon. Damilola reiterated the State Government's dedication to enhancing the ease of doing business in Kwara State, citing the ICT project as a prime example of this commitment and charged the Contractor to deliver quality job so that the State Government would have value for the fund spent on the project.
She said the Ultra-Modern ICT project at Shonga is one of several initiatives undertaken by the Kwara State Government to promote economic development and improve the lives of its citizens.
The Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Mary Kemi Adeoshun, also commended the efforts of the State Government towards the commencement of the project and emphasized its potential to stimulate economic growth and development in the region, advising the Contractor to use the resources effectively, efficiently and deliver the project at the agreed period.
Earlier, the Emir of Shonga, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr Haliru Ndanusa Yahaya, thanked the Governor for meeting the yearning of the people in their communities, expressing that the project will support the educational system, enhance economic growth and social development for the people.
The Emir added that Shonga Community has been advocating for quality skills that match the economic reality among which are computer literacy and digital economy for socio-economic development of the community.
He appreciated the Management of the Ministry for handing over the project to the Contractor, saying the Shonga Community will ever remain grateful to the State Government for providing these interventions in their area.
In his remarks, the Contractor, Skylat-One Nigeria Ltd., Adegboyega Akinwumi, thanked the State Government for awarding the project to the company and promised to deliver a quality job.
