KWARA NG-CARES CONCLUDES 4TH QUARTER ROUND OF INDEPENDENT VERIFICATION ASSESSMENT

The Kwara State Covid-19 Action Recovery Economic Stimulus (KWARA NG-CARES), now known as Kwara State Community Action Resilience and Economic Sustainable Programme has concluded its 4th Round of Independent Verification Assessment (IVA), to further evaluate the level of performance and results generated  so far by the State Delivery Platforms which is the last lap under the NG-CARES 1.0.

The NG-CARES Programme is a state budgeted programme using the model of Programme for Results (PforR) to deliver goods and services to the poor and vulnerable groups across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state. It aims at providing ample support to the poor, the vulnerable groups and people living with disability as well as Small, Micro Scale Enterprises (SMSEs) for social enliven and economic boost.

The State Coordinator, Kwara NG-CARES, who also doubles as the State Director, Directorate of Debt Management, Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Mr Olatunde Ibiyinka, stated this today during the closing event which took place at the conference room of Ministry of Finance, Ilorin.

Mr Ibiyinka explained that the programme implementation commenced in the year 2021 after the Covid-19 pandemic, purposely to provide succor to the indigents, vulnerable groups and businesses that suffered losses from the effect of the pandemic.

Mr Ibiyinka equally sought for the support and cooperation of the Assessment Team especially in identifying the beneficiaries of the programme on the field since there is a time lag between the time some of these interventions actually took place and the time of the Independent Verification Assessment visit, especially, with respect to beneficiaries of  business grants  DLI 3.2.

He said  the exercise was scheduled for five days and was meant to take care of the desk review, appraisal of documents  produced and submitted to the Delivery Platforms with respect to project implementation, adding that the field verification visits and the debriefing exercise at the State Coordinating Headquarters, were wrapped up today at the event.
 
The State Coordinator appreciated the IVA team for their insightful and thorough assessment over the week, giving assurance that the state would not renege in maintaining the good momentum and improving to surpass the record achieved against the subsequent projects.

In his remarks, the Team Lead of the Independent Verification Assessment, Stiegler Services Limited, Mr Baba Ibrahim, who is the Federal Government Consultant, appreciated the warm reception accorded his Team, while commending the level of the State compliance with the NG-CARES implementation protocol and achievement of the results by the Kwara NG-CARES in the previous verification since the commencement of the pro-poor programme over the years.

The Team Lead assured the state that the Team will make sure that due diligence and professionalism would be brought to bear on every area of the exercise for a better outcome for the state, commending the achievements of the Kwara NG-Care Project already implemented, particularly on the Delivery Platform 1.4 being implemented by the Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency for surpassing the target and revealed that the purpose actually reached the targeted beneficiaries.

Similarly, he praised the laudable improvement the Fadama Project under the DLI 2.1 and 2.3 has brought to bear, most especially, in the area of agricultural support to the farmers in the state, aiming at boosting food production as well as the apt interventions in the riverine areas, for those who suffered the mishaps of boat capsize in the period under review.

Mr Ibrahim reiterated that the progress recorded at the State NG-CARES underscores the committed passion of the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in making life bearable for the poor, the vulnerable groups and the entire citizens of the State, thus accelerating socioeconomic growth in the state.

Desist from Lifting Students to Coaching Centers- KWSG

Kwara State Government has sounded serious warnings to proprietors of coaching centers across the state, to henceforth desist from lifting students from various schools, under the pretext of preparing them for Seniors Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)or be ready to face the full wrath of law.
