Kwara Govt, RUWASSA Champion Open Defecation Free Campaign

In a bid to combat open defecation and improve public health, the Kwara State Government in collaboration with the Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) have reaffirmed their commitment to creating an Open Defecation-Free (ODF) State. The Commissioner for Water Resources, Usman Yinusa Lade, who was represented by the General Manager of RUWASSA, Mr. Olorunfemi Adewumi Oladipo today called for collaborative efforts of all citizens at just concluded stakeholders' engagement, aimed at achieving the goal, particularly in the Ilorin South Local Government Area of the State.

The General Manager highlighted the critical need to address detrimental impact of open defecation on the health of Kwarans and applauded the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for prioritizing sanitation initiatives targeted at protecting Kwarans.

 RUWASSA's efforts in coordinating community-led sanitation programmes have already resulted in six communities in Oke Ero Local Government Area achieving the ODF status.

The meeting also saw support from various local leaders, including the Ilorin South Local Government Chairman, Mr. Abdulmajeed Podo and other stakeholders such as religious, market, and community leaders, all pledging to collaborate with the government towards a cleaner and healthier Kwara.

Emphasizing the need for further sensitization and infrastructural improvements like mobile toilets, participants committed to working together for the success of the State’s sanitation goals, through concerted efforts, the drive for an open defecation-free Kwara is gaining momentum.

 • Applicants to Report at Their Local Government Areas on September 5 The Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB) wishes to inform the general public that all applicants for its community-based recruitment exercise are required to report to their respective Local Government Areas on Thursday, September 5th, 2024, by 9:00 AM prompt. Desist from Lifting Students to Coaching Centers- KWSG

Kwara State Government has sounded serious warnings to proprietors of coaching centers across the state, to henceforth desist from lifting students from various schools, under the pretext of preparing them for Seniors Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)or be ready to face the full wrath of law.
