KWSG Committed to Food Sufficiency, Security

The Kwara State Government has again reiterated its total commitment to  food sufficiency and security in the state, even as it promised farmers a robust and sustainable support and empowerment, to  enhance their productivities.


The General Manager, Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP), Dr Abdulwasiu Olayinka Tejidini stated this today, while receiving the Executive Members of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), in his office, located at Fate road, Ilorin.


Dr Tejidini acknowledged the immense importance of the association, who have been a strong pillar to the present administration at ensuring the availability of food for all and sundry in the state. 


He also noted that the farmers contributed greatly to the State's economic development, through their agricultural activities, job opportunities for youths and training of younger generation to make them better farmers.


The General Manager later reaffirmed the commitment of the present administration under the leadership of the Executive Governor of Kwara State and Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON whom he described as a farmer friendly Governor, full of initiatives, to ensure that farmers have access to numerous opportunities to enhance their productivities.


Earlier, the State Chairman of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Hon Umar Mahmud Aboki appreciated the State Government for its people oriented policies and social investment programmes, aimed at ameliorating poverty, to better the lives of the people.


He then sought for government's intervention in the areas of empowerment, of members and provision of tools to aid their work.
