KWGIS ASSURES REDAN OF PARTNERSHIP

The Kwara State Government is poised to partner with the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Kwara Chapter, with the aim of preventing members from contravening the set standards of building construction to avoid collapse of buildings in the State.


The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Geographic Information Service, ESV Abdulkareem Babatunde Sulyman said this in Ilorin while playing host to the Chairman and members of REDAN in his GRA office in Ilorin, the State Capital.


According to Sulyman, the contraventions include; non compliance to government approved plans, encroachment on service areas reserved for infrastructure and selling of lands not properly registered, among others.


 "In view of this, the Agency will be ready to collaborate with any association willing to contribute to the development plan of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. We are, therefore, partners in progress at providing housing units to the people of Kwara State," he said.


Sulyman, thereafter assured the Association of the support of KW-GIS, to ensure that only registered members are engaged by the public and to mete out appropriate sanctions for non compliance, adding that the State government is committed to the development of the new Ilorin Master Plan.


The Chairman urged the Association to make their challenges official for necessary actions, adding that their requests to acquire hectares of land at the SmartCity project, should be channelled through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.


Earlier, the State Chairman of REDAN, Mr Kamar Abioye, explained that their familiarization visit was a follow-up to their initial visit in synergizing with the Agency to enhance a robust and secure estate development in the State. 


He commended the efforts of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on the urban renewal projects and other infrastructures going on in the State. 


Mr Abioye, therefore solicited for a strong synergy with the State Geographic Information Service, in phasing out quacks among REDAN. He promised that the Association would forward the full list of registered members to the Agency for easy identification and disciplinary actions against erring members.


While appealing to the Executive Chairman to consider partnering with the Real Estate Developers, in acquiring land at the new SmartCity Estate Project, he revealed that the Association has written to the Governor, requesting for land at the ongoing new SmartCity project. 


In their separate contributions, the State Director Land Services Esv. Abdulwahab AbdulRahman and Director Physical Planning and Development Control,Tpl Abdulhakeem Abdulsalam maintained that the Association needed to work in synergy with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to push their interest on the SmartCity Estate for the construction of the ABDULRAHMAN ABDULRAZAQ ESTATE.


Those in attendance at the meeting were the  Director, Urban and Regional Planning,Tpl Awolola Ademola, DPP&DC. Tpl Abdulhakeem Abdulsalam, Agt Surveyor General,  Surveyor Afolayan Timothy,  LUAC Secretary, ESV Moshood Hassan and other principal officers of the Agency.
