The Kwara State modified environmental sanitation exercise will hold on Saturday, 28th December, 2024 between seven o'clock and ten o'clock (7: 00am to 10:am) in the morning.

The state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge stated this in Ilorin today, while addressing the press, in her office.

The Commissioner who prayed that the festive period will bring peace and happiness to all, enjoined residents to sustain a clean environment and abide by relevant laws by ensuring sanitation of their homes and business environments, to enhance healthy living.

During the exercise, there will be a house to house visit by Environmental Health Officers (wole-wole), led by Environmental Taskforce, to ensure compliance with relevant sanitary laws adding that vehicular movement will however be allowed, due to the ongoing festivities.

The Commissioner also stated that, waste management trucks will be made available for waste collections and subsequent dumping of refuse at the Government approved dump site.

Buge therefore warned members of the public that, "it is an offence punishable under the law to dump refuse on pedestrian walkways, road dividers, drainage, canals and all other unapproved dump sites.

" Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance to the people of Kwara State and Nigeria at large."
