KWARA FIRST LADY REITERATES COMMITMENT TO UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE

The Kwara State First Lady, Professor (Ambassador) Olufolake AbdulRazaq has reiterated that the Office of the First Lady will continue to support the state government to achieve Universal Health Coverage.

Amb. AbdulRazaq made the reiteration at the end of year review meeting organized by the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA). 

The review meeting, which had in attendance the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, saw him presenting various awards to Local Government Chairmen and Staff, who distinguished themselves in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The First Lady used the occasion to explain that her office, through the Ajike People Support Centre, is working round the clock to ensure that vulnerable groups, particularly women and children, got access to quality healthcare without financial hardship.

Amb. AbdulRazaq, who expressed her Foundation's readiness to join hands with the state government to upscale healthcare delivery across the state, acknowledged the hard work and commitment of the KWSPHCDA, while hinging the success recorded in the primary health on the unwavering efforts of the Agency.

She noted with satisfaction that the outstanding leadership of the management and the commitment of all the staff played crucial roles in ensuring that primary healthcare services remain accessible and effective.

According to her, "there is no universal healthcare without primary healthcare and so the successes you have recorded this year show that Kwara State is on the way to ensuring that everyone, especially, vulnerable groups like women and children have access to quality healthcare without facing financial hardship".

Amb. AbdulRazaq emphasized that the emergence of the state as the best state in the North Central in Primary Healthcare was a testimony to the state’s commitment to the health and well-being of its populace.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Nusirat Elelu, explained that the end of year review meeting is to celebrate year 2024 and the remarkable achievements of the Agency, having implemented several activities and interventions to position the state to achieve sustainable and equitable health care at the grassroots.

Dr. Elelu added that the activities were designed to ensure that every resident, particularly the most vulnerable groups, had access to quality health care without suffering financial hardship.

The Executive Secretary noted with satisfaction that the emergence of the state as the best state in the North Central in Primary Healthcare delivery in 2023 and 2024 was a testament to the huge investments of the present administration in the health sector.

She added that the efforts of the government and commitment of the health workers were pointers that the state was on the right path to achieve Universal Health Coverage.

Desist from Lifting Students to Coaching Centers- KWSG

Kwara State Government has sounded serious warnings to proprietors of coaching centers across the state, to henceforth desist from lifting students from various schools, under the pretext of preparing them for Seniors Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)or be ready to face the full wrath of law.
