The state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge (center, in uniform) discussing a point of interest with Magistrate Saidu AbdulKareem, while the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Abubakar Ayinla (2nd right, in uniform) and others listened, during the monthly Sanitation exercise held across the state, on Saturday, 30/11/'24.

The State Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, has again warned environmental offenders to desist henceforth as any one caught not observing the monthly excercise during will face the full wrath of the law.

The State Commissioner stated this in Ilorin today, during the monthly sanitation exercise held across the State.

She said it was really sad that "almost one hundred and fifty sanitation offenders were apprehended by the Task Force Team, who went round to monitor the excercise and  have been charged to mobile Courts sitting at various locations across the state."

Hajia Musa Buge said  that despite  sensitization and advocacy on both print and electronic media as well as other social media platforms, violators still dare the law by coming out during the exercise, especially the Okada, Tricycle riders, and market women went about their es illegally.

"We often start media advocacy and sensitization from Monday that preceded the sanitation day, also engaging media houses and different social media platforms to disseminate information on sanitation, till the Saturday morning, before the commencement of the exercise. Yet, some people went about their businesses in violation of the law. This is unacceptable. Violators will therefore be dealt with, within the ambit of the law." She reaffirmed.

The Commissioner however expressed her happiness on the fact that, today's exercise was "successful and will continue to improve until we achieve full compliance from residents."

Hajia Buge reassured the public that the present administration, under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will not relent in its efforts at sustaining a clean and hygienic environment, for the healthy living of Kwara residents.
