Commissioner Urges Tertiary Institutions to Boost Food Production

 The Kwara State Government has once again urged tertiary institutions in the State to engage in school farming to increase food production and promote the economic growth of the State.


The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Mrs. Mary Arinde, made  stated this today while appearing on a radio programme at Alubarika FM in Ganmo, Kwara State.


According to the Commissioner, the State government, under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has directed all heads of institutions and the Ministry to work together to promote farming in their schools to enhance food production and stimulate economic growth.


Dr. Arinde also emphasized the current administration's dedication to supporting farming for the production of surplus food to alleviate the economic struggles of citizens.


She highlighted the recent achievements of the government in the Ministry of Tertiary Education to include the provision of two hundred and fifty computers to the Computer Based Centre (CBT)in Igbaja, provision of scholarships for all Kwara State Law students, and the establishment of the Kwara State University of Education as well as the completion of the Osi and Ilesha Baruba, Kwara State University (KWASU) Satellite Campuses as extensions of KWASU.


The Commissioner urged all heads of institutions to serve as good ambassadors and continue to support the efforts of the present administration to propel the State to greater heights.

KWASRRA COMMENCES LOCAL GOVERNMENT RESIDENTS REGISTRATION

The Kwara State Residents Registration Agency has commenced registration for the staff of Local Government Areas and farmers across the 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State. The second phase of the registration exercise is focused on the registration of the members of Staff of the Local Government Areas (LGA), Local Government Education Authority ( LGEA), Teaching Service Commission ( TESCOM) and farmers across the State.
