The Research and Policy Lead, Civil Society Scaling-Up Nutrition in Nigeria, Mr. Shayomi Adebiyi has encouraged residents in the State to view their food intake as important supplements necessary for the wellness and growth of the body system, which will in turn safeguard them from diseases.

Mr. Adebiyi stated this during another Thursday episode of "Adequate Nutrient and Healthy Living"  on Kwara TV, Apata Yakuba, Ilorin, a programme sponsored by the Ministry of Communications.

The Research and Policy Lead shed light on the numerous misconceptions on nutrition, explaining that eating sufficient food may not mean eating healthy if it lacks adequate nutrients that the body needs to grow.

“The food we take must comprise adequate nutrients, lack of basic food nutrients can lead to malnutrition”, he said.

While discussing the myths of Nutrition, Mr. Adebiyi mentioned the hazard in feeding a baby water with breast milk in the first six months of breastfeeding, stressing that the breast milk only is  enough for proper growth of the baby.

The Research and Policy Lead added that exclusive breastfeeding is one of the best gift mothers can give to their babies to make them grow healthy, prevent infections and help them  fulfill their potentials in life.

Mr. Adebiyi urged mothers to play positive roles in the growth and development of their children and help to raise healthy children, the great leaders of tomorrow.
