KWSPHCDA ENGAGES LGA CHAIRMEN ON PHCS IMPLEMENTATION


Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency under the leadership of the Executive Secretary, Dr.Nusirat Elelu had an impactful engagement meeting with newly sworn in Executive chairmen of all the sixteen LGA's of the State .

The engagement meeting was an interactive session with both the management team if the kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency and the Executive chairman of the 16 LGA's aimed to educate the Executive chairmen on their roles and responsibilities and also to rub minds on their recommendations on how universal health coverage will be achieved, that is , making health care services available and accessible in all nooks and crannies of kwara State. 

The Executive Secretary also used the opportunity to also charge the Executive chairmen on the need to take leadership and ownership of primary health care activities intheir respective local government. 

The meeting was sponsored by the world Bank IMPACT project ( Immunization plus Malaria progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transformation services), according to the program Manager, Dr.Micheal Oguntoye, " the World Bank supports the Government of Nigeria to strengthen primary health care and reduce under-5 mortality rates through a Multiphase Programmatic Approach (MPA) intervention. " The MPA has 3 phases, starting with the IMPACT project. The IMPACT project is a significant investment in the Nigeria health sector with ambitious targets for service improvement and strengthening health systems.
