KWSG Empowers Youths through Skills Acquisition

The Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to invest empowering youths through skills acquisitions to support entrepreneurship, and reduce unemployment in the State.


The Commissioner for the Ministry of Youths Development, Amb. Shehu Usman Ndanusa disclosed this while featuring on a radio program tagged "Ijoba Mekunu".


The Commissioner who also received the Minister of Youths Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande Wisdom to the State recently, noted that the Minister was impressed with the level of youths inclusion in the affairs of the State government.


He reiterated the Minister's commendation to the State Governor for  including youths in his government, noting that Kwara State has significantly empowered the youths and involved them in decision-making processes, with young people appointed to key  positions and boards in the State.


The Commissioner emphasized that the government of Kwara State has implemented various programs and policies aimed at supporting youths development, addressing challenges such as unemployment, lack of education, skills development, and other social issues.


According to him, "Kwara State has invested in skills acquisition centres to equip young people with marketable skills, especially in areas like ICT, crafts, and other vocational skills, such as the Kwara State Innovation Hub, which is a tech hub aimed at fostering innovation and supporting tech-savvy youths with mentorship, workspace, and resources to launch start-ups and digital projects.


The Commissioner advised youths to be self employed and skills oriented, advising them to focus on learning a trade, technical skill, or creative ability, which will empower them to take control of their futures, create opportunities, and contribute positively to the economy.


The Commissioner who after the radio program met with the Director of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) Ilorin, proposed a partnership with the Bank, while also requesting for enhanced support for youths interested in agriculture.


The Director Mr. Tomori Maruf, noted that the establishment has a series of loans available for youths in agriculture who meet up with the requirements.


He outlined the various facilities of the bank to include the Youths Agricultural Revolution in Nigeria (YARN) which is for men, Grow and Earn More (GEM) and Women in Agricultural Enterprise (WAE) for women, which are all programmes aimed at empowering youths.

KWASRRA COMMENCES LOCAL GOVERNMENT RESIDENTS REGISTRATION

The Kwara State Residents Registration Agency has commenced registration for the staff of Local Government Areas and farmers across the 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State. The second phase of the registration exercise is focused on the registration of the members of Staff of the Local Government Areas (LGA), Local Government Education Authority ( LGEA), Teaching Service Commission ( TESCOM) and farmers across the State.
