KWSG Charges Tertiary Institution PROs on Professionalism

Kwara State Government has today charged state-owned tertiary institution Public Relations Officers (PROs) to henceforth uphold professionalism and adhere strictly to the ethics of journalism, to avoid being quoted out of context.

The State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju, gave this charge at the Ministry's conference room during a meeting with PROs of state-owned tertiary institutions.
She urged them to “ensure that government activities in the various places of postings are given wide publicity, to educate and enlighten the public.”


Olukoju stressed further that Tertiary Institution PROs build strong media relations and endeavor to seek clarifications on any ambiguous issue before publication.
She also directed the PROs to “make the institutions’ social media pages active and engaging,” assuring them of the Ministry’s support in ensuring a seamless workflow.

In her opening remarks, the Director of Personnel, Finance, and Supply of the ministry, Hajia Yahaya Salamat Muhammed, charged the PROs to take the discussions at the meeting seriously and ensure they implement them, in their day-to-day activities.

In his closing remarks, the State Director of Information Services, Alhaji Jimoh Salau, appreciated the Commissioner for initiating the meeting. He charged the PROs to discharge their duties with dedication and commitment.

Also in his comment, the State Director of Public Orientation, Mr. Demola Olarewaju, said the PROs should ensure their press releases align with the “right set standards of news writing, to show the professionalism in them.”


In her response on behalf of her colleagues, the International Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneurship College (IVTEC) PRO, Grace Olufisayo, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for organizing the meeting, assuring her that the provided guidance by the ministry will be taken to and put into good use.

KWASRRA COMMENCES LOCAL GOVERNMENT RESIDENTS REGISTRATION

The Kwara State Residents Registration Agency has commenced registration for the staff of Local Government Areas and farmers across the 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State. The second phase of the registration exercise is focused on the registration of the members of Staff of the Local Government Areas (LGA), Local Government Education Authority ( LGEA), Teaching Service Commission ( TESCOM) and farmers across the State.
