ONGOING LOCAL GOVERNMENT ECOLOGICAL PROJECTS INSPECTION, COMMISSIONER RATES IREPODUN, ISIN HIGH

The duo of Irepodun and Isin Local Government Councils in Kwara South Senatorial District of the State have been rated high over their implementation of the ongoing ecological projects compared to other local government councils.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata made this known in a separate inspection assessment of the ongoing ccological projects in the respective councils project sites.

Hon. Bata whose inspection was mainly to assess the level of work done in the councils visited expressed satisfaction with Irepodun and Isin Local Government councils, while urging the remaining two councils (Ekiti and Oke -Ero ) to speed up their work to meet up with projects specifications.

The Commissioner disclosed that all the sites inspected were all ecological projects demanded by the benefiting communities, explaining that the Ministry was only performing its statutory oversight function of monitoring and inspecting their execution. He said the Ministry was not in any way involved in the choices of the councils.

In his words, "I am very much aware of the numerous requests from your respective communities on ecological related interventions, as a listening Government, which had been demonstrated by the exemplary leadership acumen of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq(CON), all other communities with similar requests would also be attended to in earnest.

Among the ongoing projects inspected were the construction of the gully erosion site at the back of Olomu's Palace, construction of 290 meters with 3 culverts erosion drainage along Egbe/Ilorin Road, Omu - Aran in Irepodun Council Area. Also at Isin Council Area, 350 meters long drainage is being constructed at Isanlu - Isin and 320 meters drainage at Iji - Isin.

Also inspected were the construction of 295 meters drainage at Obbo - Ile/Isapa Road and the construction of 175 meters drainage at Obbo - Aiyegunle, St Luke Road in Ekiti Council Area.

While in Oke -Ero, the team inspected on going 125 meters drainage and grading of Agboola Road in Kajola Community and the construction of drainage control erosion along First Ecwa Church at Idofin Odo - Ashe Community.

The Commissioner was accompanied on the tour by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Iyabo Modupe Adekeye, the Director, Personnel, Finance and Supply, Mr Micheal Oyelowo, Director, Local Government Affairs, Mr Akande Christiana, Director, Chieftaincy Affairs, Hajia Opobiyi Fatima, among others.
