KWSG TO PARTNER N-HYPPADEC FOR IMPROVED WELFARE
The Kwara State Government has reiterated its resolve to partner with any donor agencies and the federal government to help improve the living standard of the people in the state.
The State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade disclosed this when a delegation from the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
The Commissioner used the occasion of the visit to express the commitment of the state government, under the leadership of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to a sustainable partnership that will ensure even development in the state.
Hon. Lade explained that the present administration had partnered with many donor agencies, both private and public establishments, to improve the welfare of the people.
"His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has shown high level of commitment for the welfare of the people of this state and this has been witnessed in the payment of huge counterpart funding in all sectors, water resources inclusive.
"I believe that this new opportunities, development, and sustainable partnership is going to bring succour and relief to the people of Kwara State in various communities in the areas of development projects", Lade disclosed.
He, however, assured the delegation of the state government's readiness to partner with relevant federal government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) towards ensuring that the renewed hope agenda of Mr. President is achieved.
Earlier, the Director of HYPPADEC, Dr. Mahmud Umar Muhammad, who led the delegation, briefed the Ministry that the purpose of the visit was to explore areas where the commission could intervene in the area of provision of potable water supply, particularly at Lafiagi Waterworks.
The Director informed the gathering that the Commission had intervened in the areas of health, agriculture, education, Water Resources, construction of drainages, award of scholarship for the less privileged students both at secondary and tertiary levels in member states.
Dr. Muhammad also stressed that the agency had impacted meaningfully on the lives of the member states which are mostly affected by flood, pointing out that 28 political wards and 250 communities have been identified in the need assessment carried out by the commission in five Local Government Areas of the state to include Edu, Kaiama, Moro, Patigi, and Baruten.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Christiana Asonibare said that the team of Engineers from the Ministry will carry out the necessary survey to identify areas of intervention by HYPPADEC as soon as possible.
Asonibare thanked the delegation for the visit and fruitful deliberations, assuring the team of the ministry's cooperation in the task of taking the state to the next level.
