KWSG REASSURES ON PROSECUTIONS AND DEFENSE OF COURT CASES

The Kwara State Government has reassured that it will ensure prompt prosecutions and defense of court cases as they affect people within the State.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Senior Ibrahim Sulyman Esq, who was represented by the Solicitor General, Musa Idris, gave this reassurance today during the quarterly Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing organised by the Ministry of Communications, at the conference room of Ministry of Finance, Ilorin.

Senior Ibrahim Esq emphasized the commitment and dedication of the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq to addressing prosecutions and defense of court cases in the State, adding that it is the statutory role of Ministry of Justice to prosecute and defend court cases in order to ensure peaceful coexistence in the State.

The Attorney General and Commissioner further stated that as at May, 2024 till date, the Department of Civil Litigation had a total number of fifty-four cases with thirty-eight ongoing while sixteen cases have been concluded.

Highlighting government's strides and efforts, Senior Ibrahim Esq reiterated that the Department of Public Prosecutions had a total of three hundred and nineteen cases, issued two hundred and sixty-two legal advisories.

He affirmed that the Department of Legal Drafting had eighty-eight number of agreements vetted and four number of laws/bills.

The Attorney General and Commissioner stressed that the Department of Revenue Services has twenty-three cases, out of which twelve were concluded till date.

Furthermore, the Ministry has oversight on the office of Public Defender. The office is handling eighty-two cases with fifteen concluded, while Citizens Mediation Centre is handling sixty-six complaints.

KWSG Charges Traditional Medicine Practitioners on Standard

The Kwara State Government today charged Traditional Medicine Practitioners to always maintain Standard practices, to enhance a healthy society, for the benefits of all. The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam gave this charge during a workshop, on herbal medicines in Kwara State, at University of Ilorin, main campus.
