KWSG Commends Society for Family Health on Effective Partnership

The Kwara State Government has commended the Society for Family Health (SFH) for their effective partnership in improving healthcare services in the State. 

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-lmam made the commendation today at the training session organized by the SFH for their ongoing capacity-building sessions for family planning coordinators and secondary health facilities across the16 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

According to her, the "SFH's interventions in the health sector have been significant, including:
• State-wide 2023 Net Distribution: SFH has been instrumental in distributing nets to combat malaria.
• Family Planning Demand Generation: They have trained all LGAs Health Promotion Officers to train their respective health educators and mobilizers, and promote acceptability of family planning services
• Capacity Building Sessions: Ongoing sessions for FP Coordinators aim to strengthen family planning services and improve their counselling skills". 

  In his own remarks, the Society For Family Health Team Lead for Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC) 2.0, Dr. Anthony Nwala ,expressed gratitude to the Kwara State Government for creating an enabling environment for partnership. He emphasized that Society for Family Health's mission is to collaborate with states for improved quality of healthcare service delivery in the State.

The Director of Public Health, Dr Oluwatosin Fakayode, urged participants at the ongoing capacity building session to adhere to facilitators' advice on self-injection family planning methods and other birth control options. This allows families and couples to make informed choices about family planning.

 He applauded the huge commitment and contribution of SFH to the improvement of the quality of health care service delivery in the State.
