KWARA LGAs POISED FOR ENHANCED SERVICE DELIVERY

The Local Government Areas in Kwara State have been poised for better service delivery to the citizenry through an administrative process that is all encompassing and passionate about service to humanity and development.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata disclosed this at the just concluded 2-days Inter-Ministerial Press briefing organised by the State Ministry of Communications for all Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the State.

The Commissioner who appreciated the Ministry of Communications for creating an avenue for cabinet members to showcase the policies and programmes of the State Government, urged the Ministry to continue with the good work.

Speaking on the achievements of his Ministry, the Commissioner disclosed that it is within the purview of his Ministry to perform advisory and supervisory roles to Local Government Areas and also ensure synergy to create an environment suitable for the smooth running of the councils.

Hon. Bata explained that gone were the days when Local Government Councils were known for only salary payments, but now, in addition to prompt payment of salaries, councils now deliver infrastructural projects which cut across all the communities in the State.

Speaking on the ongoing ecological projects across all the 16 Local Government Councils, Hon. Bata disclosed that project inspection is ongoing presently, adding that his team has so far inspected projects of six councils to ensure that all the projects are done to specifications and to get first hand information from the benefiting communities.

He added that the Ministry has ensured the prompt payment of maintenance funds for running the palaces of all the graded monarchs and the ungraded traditional rulers, as well as mediation on inter communal crises, presentation of staff of office to Obas and attending to correspondence and other security related issues in communities.

The Ministry in its continued efforts to compliment the giant strides made by the present administration under the leadership of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) also supervised the procurement of 32 new Tractors for the 16 Local Government Areas to aid and encourage mechanized farming among local farmers.
