KWSG Urges Committee on Health to Intensify Monitoring

The Kwara State Government has called on the committee on the oversight of basic health provision fund to strengthen its efforts at quality supervision, to enable easy accessibility to quality health care at the grass root.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, made this appeal today during the committee’s third-quarter meeting, held at the emergency operation centre of the State Ministry of Health, Fate, Ilorin.

Dr. El-Imam who emphasized that the increased funding of the health sector by the State Government is aimed at improving healthcare services across the State, which include the upgrade of health facilities in 193 wards and the procurement of essential equipment to enhance service delivery in the State. 

She disclosed that the support has significantly improved the quality of healthcare in the State and urged the committee members to visit at least one health care facility per week to ensure effective monitoring and supervision.

The Executive Secretary of the Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Nusirat Elelu, reiterated the importance of supervision in ensuring quality healthcare delivery and commended the committee members for their continued support in upgrading healthcare services.

The meeting was attended by Directors from the State Ministry of Health and its Agencies, representatives from the National Health Insurance Agency, Staff of other Ministries, PharmAccess, and other key stakeholders.
