KWSG Flags-Off Free Surgical Outreach for Obstetric Fistula Patients
The Kwara State Government has launched a special outreach programme today to provide free Obstetric Fistula surgery also know as Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) repair for women and girls across the State.
The official flag-off of the event took place at the Aisha Buhari Mother and Child Hospital in Eyenkorin, Asa LGA.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam who emphasized the State’s dedication to eradicating Obstetric Fistula, highlighted the government's commitment to enhancing the well-being of all Kwarans through various health initiatives.
Dr. El-lmam urged beneficiaries to strictly adhere to the health care consultants' instructions for optimal recovery.
The Member representing Owode Onire district of Asa Local Government in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Rukayat Shittu, appreciated the State government for the initiative, noting its positive impact on the well being of the less privileged and assured of the continued support from the House of Assembly for such commendable efforts.
One of the beneficiaries, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed gratitude to the State government for providing relief for her and offered prayers for the guidance of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's administration.
In a separate development, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-lmam and her team visited a family in Ikokoro, Ilorin, with a suspected case of food poisoning.
The Commissioner extended her sympathies to the family and directed the public health department to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
