Kwara SUBEB Announces 1,600 Teaching, Non-Teaching Vacancies in Public Basic Schools
The Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB) is set to engage 1,600 teaching and non-teaching staff across the sixteen Local Government Areas of the state, according to the Board's Chairman, Prof. Shehu Raheem Adaramaja.
The recruitment includes 695 B.Ed degree holders, 605 NCE holders, 200 security guards, and 111 other categories of non-teaching staff, all approved for engagement into the service of Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board.
Prof. Adaramaja stated that this recruitment exercise is based on a needs assessment recently conducted across the 16 Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs). The exercise follows the approval of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) to fill vacancies resulting from retirements, deaths, or transfers to other states.
The recruitment will adopt a community-based approach, ensuring that competence and qualifications are not compromised. The process will take place at the local government level or in the nearest communities and villages where services are most needed.
Successful candidates will be required to sign a bond of non-movement or transfer from their new place of work for the first five years—a condition set based on past experiences where teachers did not remain in the hinterlands.
The Board Chairman, Prof. Adaramaja, emphasized that the recruitment drive aligns with the Governor's commitment to strengthening the educational sector, particularly at the local level. He assured that all Local Government Areas will be adequately represented in the process.
“The recruitment drive is part of the Governor's commitment to strengthening the educational sector in Kwara State, ensuring that each community within the 16 LGEAs receives adequate educational resources and support,” the Chairman said.
The exercise is scheduled to last for three weeks from the date of commencement, as the 2024/2025 resumption date is fast approaching in September 2024. A schedule of the recruitment exercise across the state will be released soon.
