Kwara Ministry of Works, NANS Partner to Combat Drug Abuse

The Kwara State Ministry of Works has received a five-man delegation from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone C on a courtesy visit to seek collaboration with the Ministry for their forthcoming campaign against drug abuse aimed at tackling the alarming rise in drug abuse among students and youths in higher institutions.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport, Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammad Mao, who received the delegation on behalf of the Commissioner, Engr Abdulquawiy Olododo, expressed gratitude to NANS for considering the Ministry as a valuable partner in their laudable initiative, commending the association for their proactive stance on the critical issue.

Alhaji Mao urged the students to engage in extensive consultations to ensure the effectiveness of the campaign. He assured them of the Ministry's full support, emphasizing the importance of their initiative in transforming lives and promoting a drug-free society.

The meeting was attended by other Directors and management staff of the Ministry, highlighting the importance placed on this collaboration. 

The NANS delegation led by Comrade Adebayo Abdulkadri thanked the Ministry for their support and promised to work with the Ministry to combat drugs abuse in the State.

In his vote of thanks, the Director of Finance and Supply, Mr. Muyiwa Taiwo, encouraged the students to serve as role models to actively work towards changing the narrative surrounding drug abuse. He stressed that combating drug abuse is a collective responsibility, essential for securing the future of youths.

The partnership between the Kwara State Ministry of Works and NANS Zone C will mark a significant step in the fight against drug abuse, demonstrating a commitment to educating and empowering the youths for a healthier and more prosperous future.

KWASRRA COMMENCES LOCAL GOVERNMENT RESIDENTS REGISTRATION

The Kwara State Residents Registration Agency has commenced registration for the staff of Local Government Areas and farmers across the 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State. The second phase of the registration exercise is focused on the registration of the members of Staff of the Local Government Areas (LGA), Local Government Education Authority ( LGEA), Teaching Service Commission ( TESCOM) and farmers across the State.
