Gov. AbdulRazaq Flags Off Malaria Chemoprevention Campaign

 In a resolute effort to combat the scourge of malaria among children, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq today flagged off the year 2024 Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) campaign, to rid the State of malaria. 

The flag off ceremony took place at Children Specialist Hospital, Centre Igboro, Ilorin, in Ilorin South Local Government Area where Governor AbdulRazaq reiterated the unwavering commitment of this administration, at ensuring the healthy living and wellbeing of every Child.

 The Governor who was represented by the state Commissioner for Youths Development, Mallam Shehu Ndanusa, explained that; "malaria remains a formidable challenge, with a prevalence of 23% among the children, under five years of age. It is therefore imperative that we intensify efforts, to protect our future generations."

He noted that since the inception of the SMC programme in 2021, there has been remarkable improvements in the fight against malaria, leading to reduction of severe cases with impressive margins. 

“This year, we expand our reach across 11 LGAs, delivering preventive medicines directly to households, through our dedicated Community Distributors (CDDs). The Governor emphasized.

He however commended the dedication of health workers, to ensure the success of the programme. 

He urged Kwarans to wholeheartedly embrace the initiative and ensure that eligible children receive the Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention drugs and complete the treatment regimen, stressing the importance of consistent use of Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs) to complement prevention efforts. 

In her welcome address, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam lauded the Kwara State Government, for its commitment to providing quality healthcare delivery, to Kwara residents. 

Dr El-Imam enjoined parents across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state, to release their children between 0-59 months to access the malaria preventive care, adding that the State team through the Ministry of Health has put all necessary personnel and resources in place, to ensure a seamless SMC campaign. 

Dignitaries at the flag off ceremony include the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Alhaja Afusat Ibrahim, Director of personnel Management Ilorin South Local Government Area MRS Ogunsakin Alice, representatives of World Health Organization (WHO), National Malaria Elimination Program (NMEP)and representatives of the Community leaders among others.

Kwara SUBEB Announces Modalities for Teachers' Recruitment Exercise

 • Applicants to Report at Their Local Government Areas on September 5 The Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB) wishes to inform the general public that all applicants for its community-based recruitment exercise are required to report to their respective Local Government Areas on Thursday, September 5th, 2024, by 9:00 AM prompt.
