ACCORD ROAD SIGNAGE THE DESERVED RESPECT: KWARTMA BOSS ADMONISHES ROAD USERS

The Ag. Chief Executive Officer of the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA) Engr. Bamidele Michael had warned Kwarans to desist from defacing, destroying or outright removal of road signages on Kwara roads.

Bamidele gave this warning today Tuesday 2nd April, 2024 in his office after his usual routine movement around the metropolis to access the traffic situations and inspection of the level of traffic compliance by the motoring public.
He noted with dismay the level at which road signages meant to give directions, information and warnings to the road users were either defaced with posters or bills, destroyed, completely removed by the unscrupulous elements or cover up by the activities of traders and shop owners who had stretched their wares beyond their approved setbacks.

The Ag. CEO therefore warned that anyone caught in the act of defacing or destroying these important road infrastructures shall be made to face the wrath of the law as it amounts to compromising of public safety and destroying huge investments of the government on these infrastructures.
While also charging members of the public especially those closer to these road furniture to see it as their own and promptly report any attempts by anyone to tamper with it to the appropriate government authorities.

He further stressed that unauthorized parking, driving against traffic, overloading and other unlawful activities on our roads will be handled with levity.

As he wished Muslims around the world happy Ramadan and pray for hitch free Eid, he assured that KWARTMA is always ready for influx of people for the celebrations and pleaded with the public to cooperate with officers and men of the Authority before, during and after the celebrations while also felicitating and congratulating our dear Christian brethren on the successful completion of this year's Esther Celebration.
